Derwent Valley

Started getting out and about on the bike again just recently, but that means I cant carry round the DSLR, so having to use an old Fujifilm camera which is a bit out of its time these days, and not very adaptable to the conditions.

I should look at getting a modern digital compact one of these days.

Llanddwyn Island, Anglesey

7 hours of driving to get from North Derbyshire, to Anglesey. Was it worth it?

Well, the answer is YES. Great weather (apart from a completely blown sky as there wasn't a cloud to be seen), and unseasonally warm for February, and a location thats probably one of the best in the country.

Llanddwyn Island is close to the village of Newborough in the south west corner of Anglesey, and is usually accessible as long as high tide isn't too high, along the beach from Newborough Warren, and a cheap at half the price £3 car parking fee.

The views are tremendous with the North Wales coast and the Snowdonia mountains to the south and the western coast of Anglesey to the north. An island that has its own historym with two lighthouses, and even a 16th century church ruin.

A fab place for some photography, just next time, I'll try and be there earlier in the day.

Derwent Valley

Did the easy climb up to Whinstone Lee Tor, from Cutthroat Bridge today, after being inspired to go up there after seeing some other photographers pictures. Fantastic views over the Ladybower Reservoir, and close by is Derwent Edge. Didn't have enough time to explore the edge, but its not going anywhere, so will visit sometime in the spring.

Winter On The Great Ridge

The Great Ridge runs from Mam Tor, to Lose Hill on the northern side of the Hope Valley above Castleton.

I didnt want to miss the opportunity of a sprinking of snow overnight, and the ridge was a first time visit for me, with wonderful views over both the Hope Valley and the Vale of Edale.

Im exhausted now though, Its hard work walking up Mam Tor, especially when its been snowing.

Hathersage Moor

After a brief run out to Teversal to see what the trail was like, ended up at good old Hathersage Moor again today.

It was cold, and it was windy, and when I say windy i really mean it.

Staffordshire

After a spell of the Flu since New Year, this was only the second time I've been out in 2008.

Had a wander round the Roaches today. There were bits of snow about which was disappointing as we had obviously just missed out on some cool winter snow shots.

The aim was for some sunset shots so we didnt get there till 2.30, for a 4.15 sunset, but it was pretty cloudy and the sun disappeared behind a bank of cloud at about 3.45, never to be seen again. It was aslo bloody freezing by the time we reached the trig point, and almost completely dark by the time we got back to the car.
